ABSTRACT:
A 2023 BMC Veterinary Research study found that cleaning pet food bowls in a dishwasher significantly reduced both total mesophilic aerobic bacteria and Enterobacteriaceae compared to handwashing. Figure 2 of the study, reproduced here, clearly illustrates this microbial reduction. These findings reinforce the value of recommending dishwasher-safe bowls for improved pet hygiene.
